Once upon a time... a beautiful gesture amongst close friends was made to hold a volleyball tournament in honor of my late husband, Clint Clausen. The idea was to raise money for our four daughters' college fund. The tournament participation exceeded our wildest dreams! The past two years we have had over 200 attendees. We have two divisions; a competitive division, which included players from the AVP, Olympian Sean Rosenthal, USC, and UCLA athletes, as well as a fun division.
Clint died of a massive heart attack. We had no idea he had heart disease. Since his passing, we have become huge advocates in raising healthy heart awareness. In partnering with Providence Little Company of Mary and the American Heart Association, we now promote their amazing healthy heart screenings. Not only are we raising awareness of these comprehensive and informative screenings, but half of the proceeds go to subsidizing heart screenings for the less privileged throughout the South Bay community. Last year we were able to raise enough money to donate 44 screenings - ironically, the young age of Clint when he passed.
This is only the beginning! A little awareness can make a huge difference in saving a loved one from heart disease.
Lets play some volleyball!!!!
